Judging Books by the Cover

We don’t care what Kindle says: paper bound books are still where it’s at for serious literary readers and bestseller page-turners alike. Books rule, and there will always be a tactile connection between skin and paper, between pressed ink onto page and the human eye connected to an imaginative mind that makes it so. Books in and of themselves are art forms, and the latest case in point is David Pearson’s redesign of George Orwell’s1984 book cover for Penguin Press. As detailed over at Creative Review, The jacket has both the author’s name and the title blacked out in homage to the novel’s infamous Ministry of Truth, which, you know, isn’t so far off from having our literature fed to us by computer devices.
